Two cows seized in the border area of Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar were sold almost a year later at an open auction on Wednesday. The auction was held in the presence of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) ATM Farhad Chowdhury as per the order of Moulvibazar court.

It is learned that on June 14 in 2019, smugglers brought those two cows from India to Bangladesh. However, the members of the Murichhara BGB camp on the border of Kulaura upazila seized those cows along with the smuggler and handed them over to Kulaura police station. The BGB filed a case against the smuggler Layek Miah.

Since then, the two cows have been reared by some people under the supervision of SI Harun Al Rashid of Kulaura Police Station for a year. The judge of the case issued an order on June 3 for public auction of the two cows.

In this context, a public auction was held at Kulaura police station premises at 11:30 am on Wednesday. Additional Superintendent of Police (Kulaura Circle) Sadek Kawsar Dastagir, OC of Kulaura Police Station Yardous Hasan were present at the time.

Sabuj Mia, son of late Abdul Matin, a resident of Joypasha area of the municipal town, bought those two cows at a maximum price of Tk 76,000.
