Around 3,000 police have been deployed to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election and will perform duties impartially before and after the elections in line with the election commission's rules and regulations during the upcoming parliamentary election to be held on January 7, 2024.

"All the preparation has already been completed to hold the polls in a peaceful environment," Khulna metropolitan Police Commissioner (KMP) Md Mozammel Haque said Friday while speaking at a media briefing regarding the law and order situation of the upcoming polls at Khulna Sadar police station premises.

"We have already seized a lot of fire weapons including 18 firearms, 132 round bullets, 25 stolen motorcycles, cocktails, gunpowder and a large amount

of drugs in special drives centering polls," he said.

Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP) will keep special focus on the constituencies including Khulna-1, 2, 3, and 5, he said.

No unexpected incidents have occurred since the election schedule was announced by the Election Commission. There was a level playing field for all the candidates, and everyone campaigned comfortably.

Voting will be held in a total of 310 centers in the Khulna Metropolitan Area where a sufficient number of armed police, Ansar, BGB, RAB, as well as a significant number of Army, will be deployed in the polling centers to make the election more free, fair and festive.

On January 7, the 12th parliamentary election of Bangladesh will be held in a festive atmosphere in the metropolitan amid tight security through coordination with all other organizations, he hoped.
