Law enforcing agencies have beefed up security around the Election Commission (EC) secretariat in Agargaon in the capital up after of the announcement of election schedule announcement for the 12th parliamentary election.
Members of the law enforcement agencies, including the police and the RAB, supported by water cannon vehicles and armed personnel carriers, were heavily deployed surrounding the EC building.
Majority of the roads in the neighbourhood building were blocked.
Only individuals with valid identity cards, such as EC staff and accredited journalists will be permitted to enter the EC office.
The EC on Wednesday evening announced the polls schedule amidst intensified destructive activities protests and blockades led by right wing BNP and its radical key alliance Jamaat, demanding the government's resignation.
