Lt Col (retd) Abu Osman Chowdhury, sector commander of sector-8 during the Liberation War of 1971, passed away while undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Combined Military Hospital (CMH) on Saturday morning, reports BSS.
He was 85, family sources said. Osman was suffering from various old-age ailments for the last few months.
He was admitted to the CMH on August 30 due to his deteriorating condition and later found positive for the novel coronavirus after testing.
He is survived by two daughters, grandchildren and a host of relatives.
Abu Osman Chowdhury, the vice-chairman of Sector Commanders’ Forum (SCF), was born in Chandpur’s Faridganj on January 1, 1936.
