Local administration has imposed Section 144 at Dharmapasha upazila in Sunamganj, as Awami League's rivalry two groups called separate rallies amid Durga Puja celebration.

Apprehending violence, Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Dharmapasha and Executive Magistrate Md Obaidur Rahman imposed a ban on holding any gathering in and around the venue from 12pm Sunday.

According to locals, General Secretary of Dhrmapasha Upazila Awami League Shamim Ahmed Bilkis holds an activists rally at Modhobazar area of the upazila.

On the other hand, Joint-General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Shamim Ahmed Murad and Former president of Upazila Awami League Md Rafiqul Hasan Chowdhury held a rally at Bangabandhu mor of the upazila.

As Durga Puja is being celebrated in that area and people of that area scared of that 2 group’s rally, the local administration slapped a ban on any type of gathering at the venue to maintain the law and order situation under control in that area.

Officer-in-Charge of Dharmapasha Police Station Md Ezazur Rahman said, “Police have been deployed in the area to avoid untoward situations.” UNO Md Obaidur Rahman confirmed the matter.
