Secondary, primary students getting new textbooks in Ctg

At the beginning of the new year, the government is providing 2 crore 37 thousand 736 new books for free to 23 lakh 78 thousand 298 primary and secondary students in Chattogram.

Although there is no book festival in the school on January 1 this time like every year to prevent the transmission of corona virus, new books will be handed over to the students in compliance with the hygiene rules.

This information was obtained from Chattogram District Primary Education Office and the District Education Office.

According to the officials of the district primary education office, this time 45 lakh 98 thousand 139 new books will be given to 10 lakh 5 thousand 729 students of 2 thousand 364 primary schools in Chattogram under the supervision of the district primary education office.

On the other hand, 15 thousands 302 students of 81 English version primary schools will get 80 thousand 178 new books. Whereas, 1 lakh 61 thousand 714 new books will be given to 1 lakh 61 thousand 714 pre-primary students in the district. 11 lakh 82 thousand 745 primary level students will get 48 lakh 40 thousand 31 new books for free this year. Among all the books to be distributed, 4 lakh 45 thousand 898 new books have already arrived at Chattogram District Primary Education Office.  Rest of the books will arrive by December 20, said Assistant District Primary Education Officer Hrishikesh Shil.

According to officials of the district education office, 1 crore 51 lakh 97 thousand 705 new books will be given to 11 lakh 95 thousand 553 students of 2 thousand 287 institutions including secondary schools, Ebtedayee and Madrasa in Chattogram under the supervision of the district education office this year.

The printing press was shut down for a long time due to the corona pandemic, creating a crisis for printing new books.  

Due to this, new books of the secondary school will arrive a little late, concerned authorities said.
