Second phase of college admission begins June 30

Published : 24 Jun 2024 10:28 PM

The results of the first round of applications for first-year college admission in the upcoming academic year have been released. Approximately 13 lakh 35 thousand students applied in the first round, with around 12 lakh 87 thousand students being selected for admission. Unfortunately, over 47,000 students were not selected for any college during this

phase. These students can apply in the second phase, which starts on June 30.

This year's admission process will include three stages. The Ministry of Education has already announced the admission policy for the 2024-25 academic year. The maximum admission fee has been set, and the online process is managed by the Dhaka Education Board with

technical support from BUET. Admission is based on SSC

and equivalent results, with no selection test.

Students can apply to a minimum of five and a maximum of ten colleges in order of preference. Admission will be based on the student's merit, quota (if applicable), and preference. Students must confirm their results by June 29.

The first phase of applications started on May 26 and ended on June 13. The second phase of applications will begin on June 30 and end on July 2. Results for this phase will be announced on July 4 at 8 PM, and students can confirm their results from July 5 to July 8. The third phase of applications will start on July 9 and end on July 10. Results will be announced on July 12 at 8 PM, and students can confirm their results from July 13 to July 14. Admission will start on July 15 and end on July 25.

Ninety-three percent of the seats are open to all under the merit quota. The remaining seven percent are reserved: five percent for children of freedom fighters, one percent for children of Ministry of Education officials, and one percent for children of officials in agencies under the Ministry. If there are no applicants for the reserved seats, they will be added to the merit quota.

Students who passed the SSC or equivalent exams in the last three years, including those from the Open University, are eligible for online admission. Students from foreign boards will need certification from the Dhaka Education Board. Students can change their group preferences based on their SSC group, with specific rules for each. No student can transfer to another college without permission from the Education Board.
