Whip of the Jatiya Sangsad and local lawmaker Mahabub Ara Begum Gini today said Sandhani Donor Club (SDC) is playing important role in collecting blood through motivating people aimed at saving the lives of seriously ill patients and wounded persons.
Mahabub Ara Begum Gini said this while addressing at a function of 32nd founding anniversary of Sandhani Donor Club (SDC), Gaibandha as the chief guest here.
She also urged all to come forward with an attitude of sacrifice to donate blood to help other people for the sake of humanity. The founding anniversary of Sandhani Donor Club (SDC), Gaibandha was celebrated here today amid much enthusiasm and festivity to all the concerned. Marking the anniversary, SDC, Gaibandha district unit chalked out the elaborate programmes. In the morning, the national and the organizational flags were hoisted in front of the SDC office of the town here.
Later, a big colorful rally led by civil surgeon (CS) Dr. Abdullahel Mafi was brought out from the premises of SDC and ended at the same venue after parading the main roads of the town.
The programme was followed by a discussion meeting that was held with CS Dr. Abdullahel Mafi in the chair.
Chairman of Gaibandha Zila Parishad Abu Bakar Siddique, President of Bangladesh Medical Association, district unit, and adviser of the club Dr. Matiar Rahman and principal of Gaibandha Government College professor Khalilur Rahman addressed it, among others, while secretary of SDC Queen Akhter moderated the ceremony.
CS Dr. Abdullahel Mafi who is also the president of the SDC here said the club was established on December 04, 1990 and since then, a total of 50,000 bags of blood had been collected from the donors.
The bags of blood had been able to save the lives of at least 30,000 people, he added.
Later, 21 blood donors were awarded honor crest rest for voluntary donation of more than 10 bags of blood.
