Bangladesh Scouts and Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh (DHPB) have stood by the students through online-based classes, trainings and various competitions that are being implemented to enhance their soft skills.  Scouts are raising awareness about the safety of family and loved ones among students via mobile and online.

Several online activities including learning about coronavirus and staying motivated, staying and keeping green, washing hands frequently, hand wash challenge, reading books, painting, recitation, doing corona risk test by thyself, Google Mapping etc. had been undertaken.

The handwash challenge was launched so that students can prevent the virus while staying home. Anybody can participate in the competition and win the prize by sharing photo or video of washing hands properly for at least 20 seconds with soap or handwash on Facebook.

The prize money is 50,000 for the winner, 40,000 for second place, 30,000 for third, 20,000 for fourth and 10,000 for fifth. To participate in the challenge, one must tag at least two people with the post on Facebook timeline with the hashtag #WashHandsBeatCorona & #StayatHome.

Children can also take part in the competition with the cooperation of parents. Dr. Md. Mozammel Haque Khan, Chief National Commissioner of Bangladesh Scouts and Commissioner (Enquiry), Anti Corruption Commission, said, “Technology is evolving.

It is possible to increase soft skills through everyone's cooperative and positive attitude. Soft skills are the characteristics of a person that teach him to work well with others. Bangladesh Scouts is working with various organizations so that students can improve their soft skills at home.

I sincerely thank everyone for getting involved with Bangladesh Scouts. I also urge all conscientious, responsible and senior leaders of the Scouts to refrain from doing anything that could endanger their lives like becoming over-enthusiastic and engage in sensitive activities.”

Nusrat Jahan, marketing director of Reckitt Benckiser, said, “It is very important to stand by the students in this critical moment. We organised the competition so that students are motivated to awaken new thinking and creative energy while staying home.

We want them to protect themselves and their families by washing their hands properly. So, if you don't have a very important job, let's all stay home and make the whole family aware about washing hands regularly.”

As the government is trying to prevent the outbreak of COVID-19 and asked people to stay in home, in this situation, Bangladesh Scouts is working as partners with various government and non-government organisations including UNDP, A2I, Dettol Harpic Porichchonno Bangladesh and Biswa Sahitya Kendra to give the students opportunity to use the time by gaining some skills. Concito PR is working as a public relations partner of these programmes.
