A two-day long national science and technology fair-2023 has begun at Gaibandha Govt. Boys’ High School here today amid much enthusiasm among the students, the teachers and the visitors.
District administration arranged the fair with the theme "Prevention of Wastage of Electricity and Water" at the directive of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The objectives of the fair are to disseminate a message about the significance of scientific applications in the daily life of the people and display all the activities, efforts and achievements in the field of science for human welfare.
To give an opportunity to the scientific minded citizens and to encourage the people as well as popularize the Science and Technology to them are other objectives of the fair.
A discussion was also held at the hall room of the school in the afternoon with Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)-General Sushanta Kumar Mahato in the chair.
DC Gaibandha Oliur Rahman attended the function and addressed as chief guest. Principal of Gaibandha Govt. College Professor Khalilur Rahman, Head Master of the school Shahana Banu, freedom fighter Mahmudul Haque Shahjada and cultural personality Zahurul Qaiyum, addressed among others.
DC Oliur Rahman said, our society and nation are being benefited much from the science and this fair would undoubtedly contribute utmost to create scientifically enlightened the nation.
In this context, the DC urged all to patronize the mini scientists so that they could create innovative projects and research it properly to give something for the nation to march forward towards the development.
Later, he went round the stalls set up in the fair and talked to the stall owners about the project related issues. A total of 47 high schools and 47 colleges of the district are taking in the fair.
Earlier, the DC formally inaugurated the fair through cutting a red tape and releasing balloons in the sky as chief guest.
A large number of people including children were seen to visit the fair with festive mood.
