A local youth has been accused of abducting a girl of class VII from her home in Katiadi of Kishoreganj and raped her for two days. The youth has been absconding since the incident.
Some local Juba League leaders tried to resolve the incident through arbitration. The incident took place at Anandabazar village in Jalalpur union of Katiadi upazila.
According to the complaint sources and relatives, they went to a nearby house on June 8 to collect paddy. On that occasion, the accused Hriday's accomplices abducted the girl and took her to Hriday's house.
There he raped her and left her in a corn field next door. After much searching, her father found the girl in the corn field last Wednesday afternoon with her hands and face tied.
When the matter came to light, local Juba League leader Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Misu and his followers took Tk. 35,000 from the accused to cover up the rape incident and offered to settle the matter with the complainant in exchange for Tk. 20,000. Not agreeing to the proposal, the girl's mother filed a rape complaint with the Katiadi Model Police Station.
Meanwhile, the girl was poisoned and her relatives took her to the Upazila Health Complex. The on-duty doctor referred her to Kishoreganj 250 Bed General Hospital.
The girl's father Jalal Mia said Hriday used to offer love to his daughter. Mansar Ali, the uncle of the accused, denied the allegation.
Katiadi Model Police Station OC MA Jalil said, the girl's mother filed a case against the accused. The arrest operation continues.
