A schoolgirl was violated at Jhikorgacha upazila in Jashore district on Sunday night.
The victim’s mother filed a case with Jhikargachha police station in the connection on Monday morning. The victim is a Class Ten student of a local school at Jhikargachha upazila.
The alleged rapist is Avi Islam Pranta, 27, a resident of Kazipara in Jashore. However, he lives in his grandfather's house at Jhikargachha Upazila.
According to the case statement, Avi Islam often teased the girl
while she was on her way to the school.
On the afternoon of January 17, he forcibly picked up the girl from Hospital Road in Jhikargachha Upazila by a motorcycle.
Then he took her to his own house in Jashore and raped her. Talking to the media, the victim demanded capital punishment for the accused.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhikargachha Police Station Abdur Razzak said that the victim's mother had lodged a written complaint with the police station.
The case has been recorded in the police station. An operation is underway to arrest the accused.
