Fire service divers have recovered the body of a missing schoolgirl named Ratna (10) while she was bathing in the Brahmaputra River at Bahadia of Egarsindur union in Pakundia upazila of Kishoreganj. Her body was recovered from the old Brahmaputra River in Bahadia area of the upazila around 10 pm on Friday (September 25).
The deceased was the daughter of Abdul Awal of Bahadia village. She is a fourth grader at a local government primary school.
According to local sources, Ratna drowned while bathing in the Brahmaputra River near her house on Friday afternoon. Family members and locals searched her till evening but could not rescue her.
Upon receiving the news, the divers of Kishoreganj Fire Service came and rescued her after trying for about two hours. Kishoreganj Fire Service diving team member Md. Manna has confirmed the matter.
