Schoolgirl killed by sand truck in Gouripur

A sixth-grade schoolgirl named Tithi Pal, 12, was killed by a sand truck in Gouripur, Mymensingh. Her classmate Rupa Chakraborty was also injured at the time. The accident took place in Dhan Mahal area of Gouripur municipality on Monday morning (January 13).

The deceased student is the daughter of Ranjan Pal of the municipality’s Moddhobazar. She was a student of class six at Gauripur Pilot Girls High School. According to local sources, Tithi Pal and Rupa Chakraborty were going to coaching on Monday morning. As they reached Dhan Mahal area, a sand truck hit them. Tithi Pal was killed on the spot. Rupa was rescued and sent to the Upazila Health Complex.

Gouripur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Borhan Uddin said the body of the victim was recovered. The truck driver and hiselper have been arrested.
