A schoolboy was hacked to death allegedly by a gang of juveniles over establishing supremacy in the central town in Pabna.
The incident took place near Shaheed Amin Uddin Law College in the town at about 11:00pm on Saturday.
The deceased, Mustafizur Rahman Siam, 18, son of Ibrahim Ali, is a resident of the Paylanpur Power Housepara area in Pabna town. He was a Class X student of RM Academy in the town.
According to the police and locals, Siyam had an argument and a scuffle with his friends Saikat, Arif and others over a previous issue on Saturday evening in the Radhanagar Rathghar area. As a sequel to the incident, his friends, the alleged members of the juvenile gang, attacked Siam and hacked him repeatedly, leaving him seriously injured in the Shantinagar area.
Locals rescued him and took him to Pabna General Hospital where the doctor on duty declared him dead.
‘Someone called my son at about 11:00pm and the stabbing incident took place soon after,’ Ibrahim Ali, father of Siam, said, adding, ‘We want punishment for those involved in the murder.’
Officer-in-charge of the Pabna police station Roshan Ali said, ‘The police have already visited the scene and are trying to find more details about the murder.’
Efforts are on to arrest those involved in the incident, the OC added.
The police officer also said that the process of filing a case in this regard was underway.
