Classes and examinations are being taken at Monalisa Kindergarten School at Helenchabari area in Sharishabari of Jamalpur district despite Covid-19 pandemic whereas government has ordered all educational institutes to remain closed to control the spread of coronavirus.
Students of this institution are being forced to attend classes from 7:00am to 10:00am every day except holidays. A big amount exam fees are also being collected from the parents by the school authorities.
After visiting the area it was found that three branches of Monalisa Kindergarten School are taking classes daily in the morning. Guardians of the students are being charged frequently with examination fees. Classes of standard One to standard Five are being taken on a regular basis. However, no student was seen wearing mask while attending the classes.
Seeking anonymity, a guardian said that her daughter is a student of standard Five at the institution and she had to pay a total of TK 2,220 as examination and monthly fee. Another guardian said that he had to pay a total of TK 1,760 for his son who is studying at standard One. Other parents when asked also answered in a similar way.
When asked, Founder and Director of Monalisa Kindergarten School M Anwar Hossain said that the school was open but the classes are wrapped up before 11:00am. As a huge portion of the fees are still unpaid, school authorities are taking classes and examinations to clear the arrears.
Sharishabari UNO Shihab Uddin Ahmed said, “Government has instructed to keep all educational institutions shut until further instructions. Actions will be taken against the institution if any institute tries to violate the rules.”
