The education ministry has relaxed the age limit for students seeking admission to class VI from class V. Now students of any age can apply for admission to class VI till January 7.
Besides, the digital admission lottery from Class I to Class IX students for the 2021 session will be held on January 11, said a notification signed by director general of the directorate of secondary and higher education Prof Dr Syed Md Golam Faruk on Thursday.
Earlier, the lottery was scheduled to be held on December 30, 2020. However, the decision was suspended due to instruction of the High Court.
Students who could not apply for admission due to age limit now can apply for admission, the notification read.
The software was opened after 5pm on December 31 and now students can apply till 5pm of January 7.
Meanwhile, many students [whom age were less than 11 years] passed the 5th grade this year could not apply for 6th grade as the age limit for admission to the 6th grade was raised to at least 11.
Later, some guardians of these students filed a writ petition in the High Court. The court directed to resolve it within two days. Later, the age limit was relaxed after holding a high-level meeting.
