SCF demands UN recognition of 1971's genocide

Sector Commanders Forum-Liberation War'71 on Monday demanded United Nations (UN)’s recognition of genocide on Bangalee nation orchestrated by Pakistan occupation army and their local collaborators during the Liberation War in 1971 in Bangladesh.

The forum leaders placed the demand at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club here as they also urged all to play active role in this regard.

Sector Commanders Forum Secretary General Haroon Habib read out the written statement as its Executive President Md Nurul Alam, Vice-Presidents M Hamid, Major General (retd) Mohammad Ali Sikder and AKM Shahidul Haque, Joint Secretary Generals Professor Abul Kalam Azad, Abdul Mabud and Shahjahan Mredha Benu, among others, were present.

The forum placed eight points demand including forming a national investigation commission to identify main beneficiary of killing of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with most of his family members.

They also called for publishing the investigation report in the form of a white paper.

The demands as well included installation of Liberation War Memorial at major battle fields and slaughtering areas, providing VIP status and medical treatment free of cost to living freedom fighters.

It also included giving monthly honorarium tantamount to first class government officials to the freedom fighters, restoration of the 1972 Constitution, construction of freedom fighter’s mausoleum and prohibiting the radical, sectarian and bigoted groups.
