About 30,000 tourists have traveled to the tourist centers of Moulvibazar district on a three-day holiday. According to the Sreemangal Tourism Service Organization, the tourism sector of this district has earned 5 crore Tk. Baikka Beel, one of the tourist centers, has been closed for 9 consecutive days to protect the environment.

As there is a weekend holiday on Friday and Saturday and the Christian holiday on Sunday, like all the tourist areas of the country, the tea kingdom Moulvibazar also saw a flood of tourists. Hundreds of hotels and resorts, including five-star quality resorts built here by private initiative, were crowded with tourists. Sreemangal’s Green Carpet Tea Gardens, Lauachara National Park, Madhavpur Lake, Harinachara Golf Course, Baikka Beel of Migratory Birds, Hail Haor, Badhyabhoomi Ekatar all attract a large number of tourists. The entire district is buzzing with the arrival of school, college, madrasa, university students and corporate tourists who come on day tours on picnic buses from different areas.

The hotel owners said that tourists will arrive in the entire winter season this year. Because here there is immense green land of natural beauty. Sreemangal in Moulvibazar is unmatched for a relaxing getaway from the capital Dhaka and in a tranquil setting.

Besides, there are numerous tourist spots in the district surrounded by tea plantations such as Sreemangal, Baikkabil Haor, Hakaluki Haor, Kauadighi Haor, Madhavakunda Eco Park, Madhavpur Lake, Hamham Falls. Although these tourisms are made attractive, besides creating opportunities for economic activities, employment will be provided for about 20 thousand people. Sreemangal Upazila has more than 100 hotel resorts in the district including 70 five star quality hotels.

Moulvibazar wildlife and nature conservation department range officer Shahidul Islam said, the district has Lauachhra National Park, Varshijora Eco Park, Murichhra Eco Park for tourists. Out of this, 2 lakh 69 thousand 404 rupees have been earned in three days from last (December 25) Friday to Sunday only from Lauachhara Garden.

Among them, there were 22 foreign tourists including men and women and children.

There were 6 thousand 419 domestic tourists. There were 347 small and big vehicles.

President of Sreemangal Tourism Service Organization Salim Ahmad said that in these three days, about 30,000 tourists traveled to Moulvibazar district. All hotels and resorts were fully booked on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Accommodation and food, transportation, hawker and shopping together with tourists have earned five crore rupees. Especially in the entire Sreemangal Upazila, everyone has done good business, including five-star quality resorts.

It was thought that at least 20 crores will be earned. Tourists do not want to see the same scene again and again. That is why it is important to innovate.

He said that despite the huge gathering of tourists, no other organization except the Tourist Police has seen much activity.

Apart from this, the traffic of two vehicles is severely disrupted due to the narrow roads at the various tea gardens and sightseeing places. Tourists have to suffer because of this. Madhavpur lake road and Sreemangal Dolubari road through Noorjahan Tea Garden road should be widened.

Meanwhile Baikka Beel, one of the top tourist centers of Moulvibazar, will be closed for 9 consecutive days. The local administration has requested tourists to avoid this place till January 3.

Sreemangal Upazila executive officer Ali Rajib Mahmud Mithun said that Baikka Bill located in Baragangina of Hail Haor in Sreemangal Upazila is one of the tourist attractions in the country. Every day a large number of visitors come to this bill. In addition to the scenic natural beauty, this bill attracts numerous guest birds especially in winter. Baikka Beel will be closed for all visitors till January 3 for emergency maintenance work including road repair.
