Bangladeshi expatriate workers, who go through mandatory institutional quarantine at their own expenses, from May 20 to June 30 in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Government of Saudi Arabia to prevent the spread of coronavirus, will get a subsidy of Tk 25,000 each from Bangladesh government.
Wage Earners' Welfare Board (WEWB) under the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has decided to provide this subsidy. This subsidy will be sent to the bank accounts of the workers or his/her nominated representative.
Mohammad Rasheduzzaman, Assistant Personal Secretary to the Expatriates' Welfare Minister confirmed the matter in a press release on Sunday.
The workers concerned can download the application forms from the website of the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment (www.probashi.gov.bd) or the website of Wage Earners’ Welfare Board (www.wewb.gov.bd) or the website of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET) (www.bmet.gov.bd). The form can also be collected from the expatriates' welfare desk of the three international airports of the country. The migrant workers have been requested to submit the form to the expatriates' welfare desk at the airport before departure from June 7 along with the following documents:
a) Photocopy of smart card or immigration clearance card issued by the of Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training (BMET),
b) Photocopy of the first four pages of the passport,
c) Photocopy of the valid visa,
d) Photocopy of air ticket, and
e) Photocopy of the hotel booking document.
It is to be noted that the Saudi expatriate workers who have already left for Saudi Arabia and have completed or are completing the quarantine at their own expenses, must submit the relevant application form by June 30, 2021 at the Bangladesh Embassy in Riyadh or Bangladesh Consulate General in Jeddah by post.
