Police have arrested a youth named Raju Hossain (22) on the charge of killing his wife in Kolaroa in Satkhira. The arresteee Raju Hossain is the son of Sirajul Islam of Dhaniya village in Kolaroa upazila. The deceased was identified as Pia Khatun (18), daughter of Akhtarul Gazi of Basantpur village in the upazila.
On Thursday morning, uncle of the deceased Sabuj Moral said that Pia Khatun was married to Raju Hossain two-and-a-half years ago. In the meantime, Pia Khatun became pregnant for six months and her husband Raju Hossain started torturing her because she tried to prevent her husband from loving another girl as his lover.
On this extramarital affair, there was a clash between the husband and the wife on Wednesday night. That night, husband Raju Hossain beat his wife willfully, alleged Sabuj Moral.
Later, in the morning, people were called; they came and found that she hanged herself with her sarees at the back of the house. Upon receiving the information, the Kolaroa police visited the spot. They recovered the body and sent it to the morgue. At the same time, the killer husband Raju Hossain was arrested. A case was registered with Kolaroa police station in the incident, said police.
