In a unique initiative, the Satkhira Traffic Division has launched a public awareness campaign to educate drivers and the general public about the Road Transport Act 2018. On Thursday afternoon, leaflets were distributed at the Khulna Road intersection in Satkhira town as part of the campaign.

The operation was led by the traffic division, with the presence of Additional Superintendent of Police Anwar Kabir, Shariful Islam, Traffic Inspector Shahabuddin Molla, and Sergeant Nazmul Shikder, along with other police personnel.

The public was also informed about the e-Traffic Prosecution and Fine Payment System, which sends violation notifications directly to the vehicle owner's mobile phone. Fines can now be paid via mobile banking (bKash) or POS machines.

Drivers were warned about various offences, including driving without a licence, not wearing seat belts, ignoring traffic signals, using mobile phones while driving, and operating unfit or unregistered vehicles. Fines range from Tk 3,000 to Tk 25,000 depending on the offence.

Additional Superintendent Shariful Islam stated that documents of several vehicles were checked, some drivers were fined, others warned, and leaflets distributed. He confirmed that such traffic operations and awareness campaigns would continue under the district police and traffic division.
