A human chain was formed in Satkhira demanding a three-day government holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja, implementation of the Minority Protection Act and speedy trial of Savar's Neela Roy murder case.
The human chain was organized by Bangladesh Hindu Parishad Satkhira District unit at Satkhira Press Club premises on Friday morning.
District Hindu Parishad unit Chief Coordinator Adv Pankaj Mallick presided over the programme while Advisor of the organisation Adv Somnath Banarji spoke as the chief guest Asashuni Upazila Parishad Vice Chairman Journalist Asim Baran Chakraborty, Youth Parishad Convener Kamnashish Mandal, Member Secretary Manodip Mandal, Convener of Student Council Dhiman Sarkar and others were also present at the time.
The speakers appealed to the government and the Prime Minister to declare a three-day holiday instead of a one-day holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja and to implement the Minority Protection Act. They also protest against the murder of Hindu minor Neela Roy in Savar, demanding arrest and speedy trial of killer Mizanur Rahman.
