Chitalmari Upazila of Bagerhat. From Thursday morning like every year, this year, this year's largest puja was organized by the initiative of Mayer Anchal Puja Committee.
Devotees thronged around the Vani Archana Puja Mandap from morning till noon. The authorities took all measures to ensure that the devotees-visitors could participate peacefully in the puja.
The people of the puja committee said that since 2016, 42 young people of the area have been conducting the puja through a joint venture. Already, the fame of Saraswati Puja of Vidyapukur has spread to neighboring districts. Thousands of visitors come to see this puja on the dayw of the puja.
The main attraction of this puja is to worship 35 idols of different gods and goddesses by making an altar in the pond through the voluntary work of the committee members. These idols include Saraswati, goddess of learning and music, Radha-Krishna, Shiva, Lakshmi, Narayana, Kartika, Rama-Sita and other deities. From 2 months before the puja, the work of idol making is done in return for the voluntary work of the members.
They do all the work including making the structure of the idol, painting it themselves. Malay Mandal is the main craftsman of idol making. On the occasion of the puja, the committee has arranged interesting cultural programs and religious processions throughout the night.
Puja committee president Milan Krishna Mandal said Saraswati Puja at Vidyapukur has become a universal festival in the area. With the overall cooperation of the people of Elka, this puja has been considered as one of the largest pujas in the south-western part of the country. He urged everyone to come and see the puja.
