The Sonatan Hindu community on Thursday celebrated Saraswati Puja amid huge festivity with due religious fervor across the country.
The Puja is celebrated every year on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the month of Magh, as it is believed that the goddess wisdom and knowledge was born on this day.
The Puja pandal, temples and educational institutions in capital Dhaka were colorfully decorated and thousands of devotees of all ages thronged there since the morning to seek blessings of ‘Devi Saraswati, the Goddess of knowledge.
Thousands of the Sonatan community students of schools, colleges and universities, attired in traditional colourful dresses, offered special prayers and observed fasting as per ritual of the religious festival to seek knowledge from Devi Saraswati.
The day is called 'Vasant Panchami'.
Dhaka University’s Jagannath Hall was the main attraction to the students.
Besides, in the capital, Saraswati Puja were also arranged at different places, including Siddheswari Temple, Shakhari Bazar, Tanti Bazar, Banani, Dhaka College, Eden Girls College, Buet, and Ramna Kali Mandir.
