Hasibul Khan Sana, General Secretary of Santhia Upazila unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) in Pabna, has been expelled from the organisation for allegedly working against the organisation's principles and norms.
The information was given in a letter signed by Bangladesh Chhatra League central committee President Al-Nahyan Khan Joy and General Secretary Lekhak Bhatracharya on Thursday. According to police sources, Contractor Company MM Builders and Engineers Ltd. was constructing a 6 km bypass road from Santhia to Patgari via Konabaria. Hasibul had demanded extortion money from them.
When the contractor refused to pay, Hasibul intimidated them in various ways. Yasin Ali, the site supervisor of the contractor company was beaten at around 11am on Saturday by Hasibul for not receiving extortion money. On the same day, Prahlad Kumar Haldar, the project manager of the contractor company, filed a case with Santhia Police Station in this regard and Police arrested Hasibul on the same day. When Santhia Upazila Chhatra League unit president Shamsul Haque Swapan was asked about this, he expressed reluctance to comment on the topic.
