A Dhaka court on Sunday placed former Jubo League leader Ismail Hossain Chowdhury Samrat on a six-day remand in a case lodged against him for amassing illegal wealth of around Taka three crore, reports BSS.

Police produced the former Jubo League leader before court on Sunday morning and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand. Samrat’s lawyer however, moved his bail plea.

After hearing both the sides, Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge KM Imrul Qayesh placed Samrat on a six-day remand.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on November 12 filed the case against Samrat for amassing illegal wealth of Taka 2.94 crore.

Earlier on October 7, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-1 filed two cases under arms and narcotics acts against Samrat with Ramna Police Station, making former Dhaka South unit Jubo League vice-president Enamul Haque Arman co-accused in the narcotics case.

RAB on October 6 arrested Samrat and his associate Arman from village Kunja Sreepur of Alkora union under Chauddagram upazila of Cumilla district.
