Convener of Sampriti Bangladesh, a platform for upholding communal harmony, Pijush Bondopadhyay, on Sunday said at a press conference that a vested quarter is trying to malign Bangladesh’s image of a country of religious freedom.
He further said that the allegations made by Priya Saha to US President Donald Trump is completely baseless, untrue and have no similarity with the reality.
“Her husband is an official of Bangladesh government. It’s beyond our realization that how the wife of a government officer can make such falsehood about the country in the international arena,” Pijush said.
Bangladesh government has been working sincerely and successfully to protect the rights of minorities as well as to resist extremism. Bangladesh has true reputation in the international arena for its long history of communal harmony. The US ambassador to Dhaka has also said that Bangladesh is an example of religious freedom for the world, Pijush continued.
“The essence of the Bengali culture is non-communalism and harmony. After the independence, Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman incorporated Bengali nationalism and secularism in the country’s constitution. His daughter and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is also trying heart and soul to keep up and go forward with her father’s dream and ideology,” he said.Pijush Bondupadhyay, also a noted cultural activist, demanded proper investigation on Priya’s allegation to find out the force that is working behind to malign Bangladesh.
He also urged people to remain alert so that no vested quarter can fish in troubled water making Priya a scapegoat.
