Renowned Indian novelist Samaresh Majumdar launched his new book named ‘Oporichito Jibonjapon’ at a programme held at Bishwo Sahitya Kendra in Banglamotor on Saturday.

The programme titled ‘Boi Prokasher Golpo’ was organised by Batighar.

Besides launching the book, Samaresh also spoke on the literary scenes of both Bangladesh and West Bengal, India and took part in a Q and A session.

“Humayun Ahmed established Dhaka as the capital of Bengali literature in lieu of Kolkata. Though Indian writers like Sunil Gangopadhyay, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay and Prafulla Roy are popular in Bangladesh, not many quality writers like them have emerged in West Bengal over the last three decades,” said Samaresh Majumdar.

“My novels ‘Kalbela’ and ‘Kalpurush’ are very popular among the younger generation in Bangladesh. I hope readers will find my new book entertaining,” added Samaresh, who also discussed about his novels ‘Saatkahan’ and ‘Dipabali’.
