Prime Minister's Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman has expressed dissatisfaction with the quality of passenger service at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

Salman F Rahman said, “Upon receiving the news that passengers are being harassed in various ways at the airport, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed me to visit the airport. From what we have seen, people are being harassed in two or three places. I am not overall satisfied.

There are many opportunities to improve the situation. I have told the concerned authorities about those opportunities.”

He made the remarks while talking to the reporters after a surprise visit to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) on Monday afternoon.

He mentioned that those working in the field need to change their mindset. Adviser to the Prime Minister said, “Many complaints are being received.

The Prime Minister has talked about the solution and coordination of all these. If we see that the rate of complaints is not decreasing after today's (Monday) inspection, then strict action will be taken.”

Salman F Rahman further said that the government has taken this matter very seriously.

He further said, “Many people complain that additional money is taken from them to cross immigration and unnecessary questions are also asked. Police are developing an app for passengers to report such harassment.”

He also said that the image of a country is reflected at the airport and therefore, everyone must be careful regarding this issue.

Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Secretary Md Tofazzel Hossain, Member of Civil Aviation Authority Bangladesh (Management and Planning) Air Commodore Sadiqur Rahman Chowdhury and Member (Security) Group Captain Abu Saleh Mahmud Mannafi were present during this time.
