Salman Shah the poster boy of Dhallywood cinema. When we talk about the heroes of our industry, his picture comes first. One of the most talented stylish, smart, and fashionable heroes of 90s. He was way ahead of his time. Even today, people follow fashion trends that were started by him.
Yesterday was his 25th death anniversary; it has been 25 years since the actor have passed away leaving behind his fans in tears. He is still in the hearts of millions.
His real name is Shahriar Chowdhury Emon. Although his acting career began with television dramas, he became one of the most popular actors in film in the 90s. He made his film debut in 1993 with Sohanur Rahman Sohan directed film titled ‘Keyamat Theke Keyamat’. Along with actress Moushumi and singer Agun made their debut as well. He acted in 27 films and all of them were commercially successful. Afterwards he has teamed up with Moushumi for films like ‘Ontare Ontare’, ‘Den Mohor’ and ‘Sneho’.
On the other hand, Shabnur and Salman Shah have worked together in 14 films, including ‘Shujon Shokhi’, ‘Bikkhobh’, ‘Moha Milon’, ‘Bichar Hobe’, ‘Tomake Chai’, and ‘Jibon Shongshar’. They were the best couple in the history of Bengali cinema.
Salman Shah's other notable films include ‘Prem Juddho’, ‘Konna Dan’. Shopner Thikana’ and ‘Asha Bhalobasha’ among others.
In 1996, Salman Shah's body was found hanging from his home in Eskaton, the capital. Although the autopsy report mentioned suicide, his death is still a mystery. He was buried in his birthplace Sylhet.
Many blamed his wife Samira for Salman Shah's death, and later Salman's family sued his wife Samira and several others. However, on February 24, 2020, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) reported that Salman Shah had committed suicide.
Milad-mahfil has been organised by the Film Artistes Association centering on the day. The event held at the office of FDC Artistes' Association after Ashr on Monday, said actor Zayed Khan.
