Saleha Khatun, wife of renowned political leader from North Bengal late Abu Md Yunus Ali, passed away 14 October night in Dhaka due to her old age complications. (Inna lillahi wa inna elaihi raziun). She was 85.
Her husband, late Abu Md. Yunus Ali, was a Memeber of Legilslative Assembly late (MLA), Memeber of Provincial Assembly (MPA) and also a key organizer of the War of Independence in 1971. Besides, he was a close associate, friend and roommate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Saleha played important roles in influencing mass opinions and organizing people, especially the women of greater Pabna district, against the oppressive regime of West Pakistan.
She also assisted her husband in actively mobilizing mass struggle against West Pakistan and mass resistance against the Pakistan Army and its collaborators.
Her namaze janaza was held yesterday and then buried in the family graveyard at Sarutia of Bhangura Upazila in Pabna district.
