The defending champions of the SAFF Women Football Championship Bangladesh may be the hosts of the next edition of the tournament in 2024.
Meanwhile, three countries are interested to be the hosts of the SAFF Women Football Championship 2024 when Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan submitted their applications.
The SAFF competition committee brought the issue in their meeting along with the SAFF Club Cup tournament last week.
However, the last edition of the biggest football tournament for women in the SAFF region was held in Nepal and the next edition is scheduled to be held in October 2024 but the hosts yet to be finalized.
SAFF general secretary Anwarul Haque Helal informed that the proposals (application of three countries) have already been provided to the Marketing Agents ‘Sports Five for their opinions.
“Three countries submitted their applications and we discussed all about that but before to take the decisions we sent the bidding letters provided to Marketing Agents for their recommendation. They will select the country where they would have the promotional advantages, and we will approved their proposal,” said Helal, a long server GS of the SAFF.
“As none of the three bidders yet to withdraw their application or discussed about withdrawal, however, we are looking forward to the opinion of our Marketing Agents,” Helal added.
As Nepal organized the previous edition in 2022 and in consideration of marketing and publicity, Bhutan is very small populations’ country and in this respects they may be not considered. So, Bangladesh, the defending champions of the SAFF would have the first priority to have the right to host the tournament.
