There are more animals for sacrifice in four districts of Mymensingh than the demand ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Azha this year. Around 5 lakh 61 thousand 780 cows, goats, buffaloes and ships are available in the division for the ritual.

The demand of the cattle for Eid-ul-Azha of this division is 3 lakh 94 thousand 96. However, the rest of 1 lakh 67 thousand 684 cattle are surplus in the division.

According to Mymensingh Department of Livestock, a total of 5 lakh 33 thousand 789 sacrificial animals were available in the division last year.

Mymensingh Department of Livestock Director Dr Monoranjan Dhar said, “Around 5 lakh 61 thousand 780 cows, goats, buffaloes and ships are available in the division this year. Some 1 lakh 67 thousand 684 cattle are surplus. Considering the demand and facilities of the buyers, there will be online medium of trading besides traditional Haats. Veterinary teams of Department of Livestock will also be available at the Haats. Hopefully, the cattle farmers will get fair price.”

He further said our team is continuously monitoring so that no animal falls sick due to the ongoing heatwave.

The cattle farmers of the area are expecting a good price for their cattle during Eid-ul-Azha this year.
