Biplab Kumar Deb, Chief Minister of Tripura wants to initiate bus services between Sabroom of southern Tripura and Cox's Bazar of southern Bangladesh following attempts to boost tourism in the region, announced the Chief Minister at a programme held in Sabroom on July 7. Witnessing the successful run of Agartala-Dhaka-Kolkata bus services for the last 15 years, Biplab Kumar said that he came to the decision of writing to Dr. S Jaishankar, Minister of Union External Affairs for necessary clearance to start bus services considering the tourism potential Tripura and Bangladesh hold.

He said, "The government of Tripura is working for development of tourist circuit covering a part of Bangladesh that will include religious, nature and leisure tourism so that people can get a composite flavour."

The Chief Minister also mentioned that several people from Tripura travel to visit the beaches of West Bengal, Odisha, Chennai, Goa and Mumbai. In this regard, Cox's Bazar sea beach of Bangladesh can be a great destination for weekend leisure since it is less than a hundred kilometres away from Tripura making it cost effective and time-saving.
