Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh pace the spearhead is overwhelmed after receiving the Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council (NSC) Award 2023 from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday.
Meanwhile, 74th birth anniversary of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal, a valiant freedom fighter Sheikh Kamal was observed by the different sports organizations including National Sports Council (NSC), Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOS) and the Abahani Limited.
The NSC Award was first introduced by the Ministry of Youth and Sports after the name of Sheikh Kamal first time in 2021 on the occasion of Sheikh Kamal's 72nd birth anniversary.
Sheikh Kamal, younger brother of the Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, was one of the pioneer sports organizers of Bangladesh, who was assassinated by the miscreants and the anti-liberation group on August 15, 1975, was also a sportsman and cultural personality.
Women booter Sabina Khatun and cricketer Tasking Ahmed were nominated by the Ministry of Youth and Sports Sheikh Kamal National Sports Council (NSC) Award-2023 for his outstanding contribution to Bnagladesh cricket along with AbdusSadek, the legendary hockey player and the first captain of Bangladesh national hockey team.Bangladesh women’s national football team captain Sabina Khatun was also awarded for her immense contribution in country’s women’ football.
Meanwhile 10 sports personalities and two organizations received the award from the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Saturday at the Osmani Auditorium.
Sabina, captain of the national women’s football team in her reaction said, “A great personality is engaged with this award, who played a big role to make modern our sports. He dreamt with the sports man and women of this country. He had versatile brilliance, a name of inspiration and quality of leadership.”
“It is a great privilege to receive award from his elder sister a sports lover Primer Minister Sheikh Hasina. I am very much proud of and this will be the best moment in my life,” Sabina added.
Right now the number one pacer of Bangladesh Cricket,Taskin, in his immediate reaction after receiving the award, told the reporters, “It’s great, really I am overwhelmed after receiving the award from the hands of the Prime Minister, I feel proud.
It is first time I have received the national level award. Really it’s excellent feelings.”
“If you perform well in any event, it boosts your confidence,”Taskinadded.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her best wishes and also advised the Bangladesh cricket team to play well in the upcoming Asian Cup and World Cup cricket, when she was talking to Taskin,
Taski said, “Prime Minister asked me about our schedule of Asia Cup and World Cup, best wishes for you and hope will play well in the World Cup.”
Meanwhile, the 74th birth anniversary of Shaheed Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of the Father of Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was observed in a befitting manner by different sports and socio-cultural organizations, including popular club Abahani Limited and Abahani 'SamarthakGoshti have taken elaborate programmes.
The directors, officials, players and the and the supporters of Abahani Club paid rich tribute to it’s founder Sheikh Kamal with placing wreaths at his portrait at the club premises in the early hours of Saturday.
The programs also included daylong recitation from the Holy Quran, a special prayer was offered for seeking eternal peace for the departed soul and an elaborate discussion and memorial meeting on the life and works of Sheikh Kamalat the club premise.
“For the progress of the country’s sports, he established Abahani Limited. But we are ill-fated that we lost such great sports personality, who dreamt with the sportsmen and the sports of the country. It is very much unfortunate for the nation.”
