SAARC Agriculture Centre Book Corner opens at GAU

A SAARC Agriculture Centre (SAC) Book Corner was officially inaugurated at the library of Gazipur Agricultural University (GAU) on Tuesday, aiming to foster regional academic collaboration and improve access to South Asian agricultural research.

The Book Corner, showcasing nearly 200 scholarly publications, was inaugurated jointly by Professor GKM Mustafizur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of GAU and Md Harunur Rashid, Director of the SAARC Agriculture Centre. 

The ceremony was chaired by Professor Md Yunus Miah, Chief of the GAU Library and graced by Pro-Vice Chancellor M Moynal Haque and Treasurer Md Safiul Islam Afrad.

Also in attendance were SAC officials including Md Younus Ali (Livestock), Sikander Khan Tanveer (Crops) and Raza Ullah Khan (Natural Resource Management), along with university faculty, students, and staff.

The collection includes vital research materials on crops, horticulture, livestock, fisheries, climate-smart agriculture and sustainable resource management, offering evidence-based insights for students, researchers, and faculty.

“This Book Corner will significantly enrich our academic resources and support advanced agricultural learning and research,” said Vice Chancellor Rahman.

Rashid emphasised SAC’s commitment to enhancing regional capacity through research, policy dialogues, and knowledge dissemination, noting that SAC has published over 250 agricultural research books distributed across South Asia.
