The South Korean embassy announced on Wednesday the winners of the first digital video contests on K-pop and Korean culture held from August 17 to September 17.

The event was organised by the Embassy in collaboration with the BDK Family (Bangladesh Korea friendship group) and KOICA Alumni Association.

Many talented Bangladeshi people, especially youngsters, interested in Korean culture and K-pop participated in the event, the embassy said.

A total of 126 video entries on K-pop performance and introduction of Korean culture in Bangla language were submitted. 113 of the videos were K-pop performances, and 13 were on various aspects of Korean culture.

A committee composed of 5 experts from various organizations, including RTV and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, reviewed the submitted video works and selected four award winners per the respective category on September 21.

The top prize went to Istinarah Surrat Nubah in the Korean culture category and Lost Dynasty (a group of five dancers) in the K-pop category.

The award ceremony will be held at the Embassy in October, and the prize-winning video entries will soon be uploaded to the Embassy's Facebook page for everyone to enjoy.

The Embassy has been holding regularly various cultural events, such as Korean concerts, Korean film festivals, Korean food festivals, and K-pop contests, with a view to deepen the mutual understanding between Korean and Bangladeshi people through culture and to strengthen our bilateral ties.

This first digital video contests served as an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange through online digital platforms at a time when organizing offline cultural activities has become difficult due to the unprecedented challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the embassy said, thanking all for the participation.
