A central oxygen system is being set up at Chittagong General Hospital at a cost of around Tk 85 lakh at the initiative of S Alam Group.
A non-government organization was ordered to build it on Sunday. The company has an agreement with S Alam Group to set it up within 15 days.
According to General Hospital sources, the main treatment center for corona patients is Chattogram is Chittagong General Hospital.
This hospital with 250 beds is treating the corona patients but, did not have a central oxygen unit. As a result, it was not possible to install high-flow oxygen devices as an alternative to ICUs.
In such a situation, S Alam Group, one of the leading industrial companies in the country has commissioned a private company to set up a central oxygen system in the hospital at a cost of around Tk 85 lakh.
Earlier, S Alam Group provided ventilated ICUs and high flow oxygen at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMC), Chittagong Mother and Child Hospital and Chittagong General Hospital at a cost of around Tk 3 crore.
S Alam Group Chairman PS Akij Uddin handed over the work order of Central Oxygen Project at Chittagong General Hospital.
S Alam Group Chairman Saiful Alam Masud also provided medical equipment worth around Tk 7 crore to six hospitals including Mugda Hospital in Chittagong and Dhaka.
