Another family member of Saiful Alam Masud, chairman of S Alam Group, the country's leading industrial company, has contracted the deadly corona virus.
Her name is Ishfaq Ara Jahan Rafika. She is the wife of Mahmudul Alam Akib son of Saiful Islam Masud's elder brother Morshedul Alam. S Alam's daughter-in-law and Sitakunda constituency MP Didarul Alam's daughter Rafika's Corona's report came positive on Thursday.
Morshedul Alam died of corona at Chittagong General Hospital on May 22. Eight members of the S Alam family have been infected with the virus.
It is learned that in the first week of May, the engagement of Atiqul Alam, son of Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Jabed's daughter Zeba Zaman Chowdhury and another child of S Alam family, the son of Vice Chairman Abdus Samad Labu was completed.
About 60-70 people including two family members and relatives were present at the engagement ceremony at the minister's residence on Sarson Road in the city.
Shortly after the ceremony, 9 members of S Alam family and Pir Maulana Shah Kutub Uddin of Baitush Sharaf who took part in the ceremony were attacked by Corona. He died at Dhanmondi Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital in the capital on May 20.
S Alam's elder brother and director of NRB Global Bank Morshedul Alam died at Chittagong General Hospital on the night of May 22. Among others, MP Didar's daughter Ishfaq Ara Jahan Rafika was also present on the occasion.
Saiful Alam Masud's mother Chemon Ara Begum (85), S Alam Group director Rashedul Alam, Vice Chairman Abdus Samad Labu, Director Md Shahidul Alam, Director Osman Gani and a 36-year-old woman were among the victims. Seven of them are being treated at Anwar Khan Modern Medical College Hospital in Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
