Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav smashed sparkling half centuries as Mumbai Indians (MI) cruised into the final by outplaying Delhi Capitals (DC) by 57 runs in their Indian Premier League (IPL) Qualifier One match worked off in Dubai, United Arab Emirates on Thursday.
Sent into bat first, MI recovered from a bad start to pile up an imposing 200 for five from their 20 overs with Hardik Pandya adding the finishing touches with an explosive 37 not out. In reply, DC were up against it from the start losing their first three wickets without a run on the board and they eventually ended up scoring 143 for eight from their 20 overs.
The MI opening bowlers, Trent Boult and Jasprit Bumrah caused the early damage before Marcus Stoinis brought some respectability to the DC total with a top score of 65.
Earlier, Suryakumar smashed his way to 51 off 38 balls to lay the foundation that was enough for Hardik to hammer the bowling with five sixes in his 14-ball 37.
In between, Kishan was an ideal anchor with a priceless half century (55 off 30 balls), adding 60 for the sixth wicket with Hardik in only 3.5 overs. Ravichandran Ashwin (3/29 in four overs) shone brightly for DC with his cerebral bowling.
