Russia has taken seven-day programme in Dhaka to mark the golden jubilee of Bangladesh’s independence. The Russian House, formally known as the cultural center, is hosting the programme with the support of the Liberation War Academy Trust (Muktijuddho Academy Trust).
Maxim Dobrokhotov, Director of the Russian House in Dhaka, Shahinoor Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Islamic University of Bangladesh and Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, writer and Chairman of the Liberation War Academy Trust, were present, among others.
They spoke about the heroic fight of the Bangladeshi people for independence, real assistance of the Soviet Union in the bloody struggle during the 1971 War of Independence, and the country's reconstruction after the proclamation of the People's Republic of Bangladesh on March 26, 1972.
The Head of the Russian House drew attention to the development of equal cooperation between Russia and Bangladesh in the economic and cultural fields, interaction in the sphere of higher education.
A painting exhibition was also inaugurated by 11 Bangladeshi artists to memorise the liberation war heros and the Bangladesh Independence achievements.
The painting exhibitions will be open to visitors until 28 March from 11 am to 3 pm.
A Children painting competition will be held on 26 March with a small-scale cultural programme and the closing Ceremony.
