Prior to the allocation of the budget for this new fiscal year, there was a very morale boosting idea going around that each village will become a town mentioned in the concept ‘My Village My Town’. In that continuation, the plans to radicalize the rural areas of Bangladesh has been formulated and the work to realise these plans will begin soon. These include both infrastructural and economic development. On top of this, the development of small cottage industries and improvement of education has set the perfect goals to realize the goal of the present government.

Reports say that the government will take on effective steps to bring massive transformation in the rural areas through technological revolution in agriculture, infrastructural development, expansion of electricity, education and other fundamental developments. Moreover, on an infrastructural level the improvement of public healthcare, civic amenities, transportation, and sanitation is also on the agenda. Finally, removal of poverty permanently within 2020 is the tip of the iceberg which the government has undertaken to fulfill through the proposed budget.

On the other hand, the huge increment in the budget allocation for rural development when compared to the previous fiscal year is quite noteworthy and deserves  compliments. It shows the electoral pledges of the government to transform villages into cities for advancement of agriculture is taking shape into reality. To top it off, the steps already taken to construct roads, footpaths, communal gathering venues, waste management system are sure to bring about a positive outcome in future.

The authorities concerned with this massive undertaking should work towards fulfilling the needs of the people, as it is the only way through which progress can be achieved. The urbanization of rural areas with implementation of advanced agricultural technology is a necessity for the development of the nation.
