Legends of Rupganj retained their spot in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) with a match to go in the relegation league after securing a six-wicket win over Old DOHS in the relegation league at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

According to the bylaws of the DPL, Rupganj has the most number of victories (4) amongst the three teams of the relegation league. The other two teams -- Old DOHS and Partex Sporting Club however were relegated to the first division,

After their defeat at the hands of DOHS, Partex  were earlier confirmed to be relegated to first division.

DOHS have the chance to avoid the first division should they win against Rupganj but they blundered in the crucial game.

Rupganj will play against Partex in the last match of the relegation league which is now a mere formality.

The Rupganj and DOHS game was reduced to 18 overs due to rain after which DOHS were restricted to 117-7 despite a rapid half-century from opener Anisul Islam Emon.

The young opener blasted 51 off 39 with six fours and one six to lay a solid platform but the other batsmen couldn’t capitalize it.

Hossain Ali of Rupganj ripped through DOHS with 3-23 while captainNaeem Islam also hampered their progress with 2-12. Naeem batted in sheer aggression to play a key role in Rupganj’s victory indeed.

The captain was unbeaten on 27 off 14 before sailing the side home. However the platform of the victory was laid by Sabbir Rahman and MehediMaruf who scored identical 30 runs.
