Receives the Daily Star-DHL Award
The Runner Group has been rewarded the Bangladesh Business Awards accorded by the English national daily and logistic service provider DHL.
Runner Group Chairman Md. Hafizur Rahman Khan received the Enterprise of the Year Award.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's International Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi handed over the awards to four organizations and individuals at an award giving ceremony at a hotel in Dhaka on Friday.
The other awardees are IPDC Finance Ltd as the Best Financial Institution, Quamrun Nahar Zahir of Ananta Apparels Ltd as Outstanding Woman in Business and Azam J Chowdhury of East Coast Group as the Business Person of the Year.
The Daily Star Editor Mahfuz Anam, Executive Vice President of DHL Yesmin Khan, founder of InfoSys NR Narayana Murthy as well as country’s leading businessmen, bankers and senior officials of government and private organization were present.
Runner Group has been selected for the Enterprise of the Year Award this year. The sister associate organization of the group, Runner Automobiles Limited, is the country’s first and the lone automobiles manufacturer and exporter. The company started import of motorcycles in 2000. In 2007, the company started manufacturing motorcycles at its own factory at Bhaluka. In 2011, the company first exported motorcycles in Nepal and later in 20018 it exported two-wheelers in Bhutan. Besides, the process of exporting high capacity motorcycles in different prospective countries in the world is in progress.
Besides motorcycles manufacturing, the company, listed on the country’s capital market, is a distributor of three-wheelers in the country. Runner Motors Limited, a subsidiary of Runner Automobiles Limited, is a distributor of commercial vehicles like trucks and light vehicles of Volvo Eisher brand. Runner Motors has a strong position in the market for commercial vehicles and a major portion of the local market for commercial vehicles is in the grip of the company. Runner Automobiles Limited is govern by a wel-established multinational and multi-cultural management team and a strong versatile board where there is representation of Brummer Frontier PET.
In receiving this prestigious award, Runner Group Chairman Md. Runner now wants to move one step ahead by circulating ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tagged motorcycles across the globe.
