RUJA celebrates golden jubilee

Rajshahi University Journalist Association (RUJA) on Saturday celebrated its golden jubilee on the campus amid great enthusiasm and festivity.

RUJA chalked out various programmes including colourful procession, organisational discussion, cultural function and reminiscence on the day.

Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Editor of The Daily Observer, inaugurated the ceremony by releasing balloons and festoons at 11:00 am in front of Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Senate Bhaban as the chief guest.

The current and former members of RUJA brought out a colourful rally on the campus and later joined a discussion programme at the Senate Bhaban.

RU vice chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan addressed the discussion as the special guest while RUJA former founding president Hamiduzzaman and general secretary Nazrul Islam delivered greetings speech respectively with former president of the organisation and eminent playwright professor Maloy Kumar Bhowmick in the chair.

Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury urged the journalists to prepare them properly from their own position as they have a great role for the country and its people.

North South University vice chancellor professor Atiqul Islam also addressed the discussion as special guest while RU pro vice chancellors professor Ananda Kumar Saha, Professor Choudhury M Zakaria, proctor professor Lutfar Rahman, public relation office administrator professor Provash Kumar Karmakar attended on the occasion, among others.

The programme was concluded through a cultural function.

Earlier on Friday, RUJA former members registered their own name at the Central Cafeteria till 5 pm to 8 pm to join the ceremony and later an affection ceremony was also held.
