RUET designs Robot for Covid-19 patients

A Robot designed by a group of students of RUET will serve Covid-19 patients. The Robot named ‘Captain Setara Begum’ will act to read the temperature, send the advices of the physician and collect various data of a Coronavirus infected patients. 

RUET sources informed, seven members of the organisation, ‘Artificial Intelligence Bangladesh’ of RUET have invented the robot by exploiting local technology after three-month of effort. The robot featured as a woman figurehead has been named after Freedom Fighter Bir Protik Captain Setara Begum.

After successful end of trial of the robot at the Corona wards of the hospitals, it will be manufactured commercially. 

The robot is capable of carrying 5-10 kilogramme of weight and can work one to one and a half hour without at a stretch.

Members of Artificial Intelligence Bangladesh informed, the robot has been designed to supply medicine and collect information about Corona patients even after not going in touch with the patients. 

he robot will play a vital role in developing medicare management of the hospital. It will also work as an assistant of the doctors and the nurses. Doctors will be able to control the activities of the robot by sitting at their chambers or from any other places through computer or the mobile phones. 

Farzadul islam, Head of the AIB team informed, the robot will be able to supply medicine, food and other necessary items to a patient even without getting in touch with him/her. By putting head infront of the sensor of the robot, a patient will be able to measure temperature of his body. His/her temperature will be seen through the temperature measuring monitor. Though special camera, microphone and speaker attached to this robot, a doctor or a relative would be able to communicate and exchange information with the patient from any where in the world. 

Prof Rafiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor of RUET, said that the robot will keep an important role if it is successfully tested in the field level. It would proceed Bangladesh one more step forward in Information Technology. However, he added, the robot requires some modification. After the modification, the robot would be able to play a successful role in reality.
