Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) celebrated ‘University Day’ amid joy, enthusiasm and fanfare marking its 20th founding anniversary on Friday.
The day's programme began in the morning with hoisting of the national flag followed by plantation of tree saplings on campus.
Vice-chancellor Professor Jahangir Alam opened the daylong programmes.
Marking the day, a number of teachers, students and staff brought out a colourful rally that paraded through the campus. A discussion was also held at the Central auditorium.
Addressing a brief meeting on the occasion, VC Prof Alam sought cooperation from all quarters to run the university peacefully and successfully.
He said eleven new ten-storey buildings are being constructed on the campus involving Taka 599.30 crore aimed at providing improved facilities for the teachers, researchers, students and others concerned.
The improved facilities will contribute a lot towards advancing and supporting the higher academic standards in both teaching and research that will turn the university into a centre of excellence.
Former VC-in-Charge Prof Sazzad Hossain, Civil Engineering Faculty Dean Prof Nimaul Bari, students welfare director Prof Rabiul Awal and Registrar Prof Selim Hossain, among others, were present on the occasion.
