Shining in white-ball cricket is something we don’t associate with Bangladesh pace bowler Rubel Hossain.  However, the 29-year-old was on fire in National Cricket League (NCL) for his team Khulna Division on Monday as he grabbed his career best bowling figures of 51/7 against Rajshahi Division at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur.

Rajshahi Division batsmen were rattled by Rubel’s fiery pace bowling and after the end of their first innings Rajshahi are all out for 151. There were no play in the first day of the match at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium because of cyclone Bulbul. On the second day, Rajshahi batted first and scored 36 without any loss of wicket, then the game was stopped again due to rain. However, on the third day, Rajshahi batsmen faced the barrage of Rubel’s blazing bowling.

Right-handed pacer Rubel toppled dwn seven Rajshahi batsmen, by giving only 51 runs in 17.4 overs. Abhishek Mitra, Mizanur Rahman, Muktar Ali, Sabbir Rahman, Sanjamul Islam, Farhad Reza and Sujan Howlader were the batsmen who fell in Rubel’s trap.

In the first-class cricket, Rubel Hossain’s previous best was for South Zone against East Zone back in 2017. He took 5 wickets for 22 runs at that time and in his first class cricket career so far, he scalped 93 wickets in 57 matches. Besides, he have five-wicket haul four times.
