In protest against the assault and manhandling of a teacher of the department of Veterinary and Animal Science of RU, students of the department boycotted classes and exams demanding expulsion of the Chhatra League leaders  and others allegedly involved in the incident. The students have also vowed not to return to their classes until the responsible BCL leaders and others are expelled from the campus.

The students warned the authorities of RU to take immediate action against the evil-doers from a human chain held in front of RU Central Library at 11 am Monday.

Al-Amin, a third-year student read out a written statement at the human chain. The students placed several demands to the RU administration. The demands include: permanent expulsion of the accused BCL leader and IBA student Abu Sinha from the university and others involved in the incident should be brought under the law and security measures at the campus should be beefed up during the holding of Interdivision Football Tourney.

It is learnt, during the holding of Inter-division Football Tourney between the students of Veterinary and Animal Sciences and the Institute of Business Administration of RU  on Sunday morning a clash erupted between the rival students over a decision of the Referee when BCL IBA unit President Abu Sinha manhandled and assaulted Professor Moizur Rahman of the department of Veterinary Science and tore his jersey and the dress.

The RU Proctor office has formed a three-member probe committee to investigate the incident.
